CENTER PROGRAMS AT SCHOOLS
BELOW IS A LISTING OF THE PROGRAMS OR SERVICES THAT ARE OFFERED
"Attendance Program" -Students receive recognition on bulletin board for attendance each 9 weeks
"Character Learning @ JES" - Each month, different classes or grades will complete worksheets on the 6 different Character traits and they will be recognized by hanging the worksheets on our Character Lessons - In the Spotlight area in the school.
"Character Counts @ SMES -Stars of the Month" - Each homeroom class will choose one student to be recognized each month for the character trait. They will also receive a "yard sign" to be displayed in their yard all month long!
"Dollars & Sense program" - for 4th & 5th grade students to learn about the difference between wants and needs and budgeting money. Co-Sponsored by CFSB
"Open House" at both schools - (School supplies available for students in need)
"Ready, Set, Go! Kindergarten Transition" - prepares parents/students for upcoming kindergarten school year
"Summer Take Home Skills Bags" for Math (Addition/Subtraction; Multiplication/Division; Counting Money
"Tutoring/Mentoring Program" -pairs students with mentors from community
"Watch D.O.G.S." -Dads volunteer in the school for a day as Positive Male role models. Help with student academics like reading or math.
BASIC NEEDS –
Assistance or referrals for help with clothing, food, utility bills, etc.
Annual “Coats for Kids” in need of winter coat, parents fill out a form from our newsletter to receive a free coat for their school age children.
"Open House" at both schools - provides free school supplies for those families who are in need
“Santa Project” for families in need for the holidays. Co-Sponsored by various churches, businesses, and individuals in the community who donate to this cause.
"Weekend Food Assistance Program" for children in our schools who are in need of food over weekend. They will receive a sack filled with snacks to eat over the weekends during the school year. Various churches/organizations donate to this program.
FAMILIES IN TRAINING -
“Baby Gift Bags” for new and expecting mothers - Co-sponsored by Early Childhood Council Graves/Marshall Co.
"Community Baby Shower" for new/expecting parents - Co-sponsored by MC Health Dept, MC FRC's, Early Childhood Council.
Referrals to Marshall County Agencies – WIC, Preschool/Headstart, M.C. Health Dept.

“K-CHIP” insurance referrals for children
“Red Ribbon Week” Drug Awareness Program in October each year.
"F.A.S.T. (Fathers and Sons Together)" program is for elementary boys regarding growing up.
“Girls Night Out” for 4th & 5th grade girls and their mothers regarding growing up and puberty. Co-Sponsored by Marshall Co. Health Dept.
Referrals for Lions Club Eye Care
“University of Kentucky Mobile Dental Program” – Screenings and Treatments for children in our schools (KG-5th gr.) Also provides dental sealants and fluoride varnish to (2nd grade-5th grade) students each year.
"UK Dental Clinic" - located in the Marshall Co. Health Dept. Accepts many Insurances including Medicaid card.
FAMILY LITERACY –
"Bookmobile" during the summer. Co-Sponsored by Marshall Co. Public Libraries
Parents Breakfast - promotes family literacy and time spent together
Referrals for G.E.D. assistance (Adult Learning Center)
“Family Reading Nights” -Co-Sponsored by the school library
“National Reading Day - Jan. 23” Free books given to students.
"Summer Reading Program" - Sponsored by JSFRC
“Summer Take Home Skills Bags” for English (Grammar & Reading Comprehension). Folders with worksheets for 1st through 5th grade students.

Grandparents Breakfast - during school book fair - family literacy
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) program - Dads come and volunteer at school to be positive role models to the students - also helps with academics like reading and math skills.
